Performance Pathway
From May 2008 as part of its "Performance Pathway" pentathlon-scotland will be hold monthly "Evaluation Days" to help monitor the progress and development of athletes who wish to be considered for one of the three SMPA Squads.
In September 2008 as part of this “Performance Pathway” pentathlon-scotland intends to put in place three squads:-
Performance: - Selection based on inclusion to one of the MPAGB's WCDP program by achieving the "Consideration Standard" (CS) set out by the MPAGB WCDP team.
Development: - Selection based on the achieving the pentathlon-scotland’s "Development Squad CS" at designated competitions and the pentathlon-scotland Evaluation days.
Talented Athlete: - Selection based on the achieving the pentathlon-scotland’s "Talented Athlete Squad CS" at designated competitions and the pentathlon-scotland Evaluation days.
Note: - Athletes on the pentathlon-scotland Development squad who are close to the MPAGB's "CS" may also be recommended by the pentathlon-scotland Selection Team for possible inclusion to the MPAGB WCDP program.
Any pentathlon-scotland member wishing to be considered for one of the three pentathlon-scotland squads will be expected to:-

With the cooperation of the Scottish MP Coach devise a "Personal Development Plan" (PDP).

Achieve the competition and training targets set in their "PDP"

Send regular training reports to the Scottish MP Coach as agreed within the athletes PDP.

Attend monthly "Evaluation Days" held at the SMPA Huntly training centre.

Attend regular training days held at the SMPA Huntly training centre as agreed within the athletes PDP

Acknowledge that Modern Pentathlon as their primary sport.
The maximum number of each SMPA squad for 2008 will be:-

Development 4
Talented Athlete 6
Selection for the pentathlon-scotland Squads will be based on athletes achieving the relevant “CS” standard at the Scottish National Pentathlon Championships, (19 July) the GB Pentathlon Championships (30-31 Aug) together with their recorded performances while attending the SMPA Evaluation Days held between 1st May and 31st August.
The selection procedure to be administered by the SMPA Selection Team consisting of Terry Cullen Scottish MP Coach, Pat Chaffey SMPA swim coach and Rachel Caughey SMPA Director of Administration.

Evaluation Days
The Evaluation Days will be held at pentathlon-scotland’s training centre at Huntly 30 miles North West of Aberdeen.
The Timetable will be:-
9.00 Shoot
11.00 Run
12.30 Fence
15.30 Swim
Places to be booked in advance through Terry Cullen. Cost to be £25 per person.
Deadline for booking is Thursday evening prior to the Saturday.

British Youth Pentathlon Championships
Training days
Training days are held most Saturdays at Huntly and are open to all pentathlon-scotland members. Places are limited so booking ahead is necessary. A normal timetable is:-
8.00 Swim
10.00 Shoot
11.45 Run
13.00 Fence
