The Schools Biathlon comprises of two separate events – swimming and running. The distances are aimed for all school children to compete, whatever ability, as long as they can swim. Schools are invited to enter individuals and teams. Copy of the entry form is available from the Download – Competitions page or contact pat.chaffey@googlemail.com for further details. Individuals may enter on their own as long as they notify the school. Most schools send along a member of staff or responsible adult with their team which is of great help on the day.
Competition Day. The day usually comprises of one event in the morning and one in the afternoon depending on when facilities are available. Each event is a time trial where points are awarded to the time achieved. The points from the two events are added together to decide the placings. Awards are presented for the top six in each class, members of the top three teams and winners of the swim and run.
Time Trial. This is where each competitor swims or runs against the clock and points are awarded according to the times achieved.
