Performance Pathway
As an Olympic sport and classed as an 'excellence sport' as opposed to a 'participation sport' Modern pentathlon sporting success can only be measured in terms of success at European, World and Olmpic level. Over the recent years Scottish athletes have regularly been selected to represent Great Britain at the highest level of the sport. Achieving success at a high level will act as a springboard to encourage new athletes in to the sport as well as encouraging existing athletes to reach for higher goals. pentathlon-scotland's Performance Pathway Programme is to help and support Scottish Pentathletes to for-fill their ambitions to reach the highest possible level within the sport that they can achieve. pentathlon-scotland has a programme of recruiting athletes who show a commitment to Modern Pentathlon and are willing, if not already, engage in the training of all five disciplines. Therefore the Pathway Programme with its limited resources is focused on athletes who are intent on competing at the very top of our sport. The pentathlon-scotland Board is committed to the principle that the Performance Pathway training programme is designed to lead talented Scottish athletes through the GB Pathway Programme squads and on to the GB National Training Centre at Bath University. It also realises that it has an obligation to support Scottish Squad athletes who may not be accepted or able to be included in the GB Pathway Programme, to achieve their goals.
